Note: This position will be a full-time, one-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities* Cataloging
- Catalogs materials in any format (primarily print) and in any of the languages handled by Slavic Studies, including Slavic languages (roman or Cyrillic), Baltic, Hungarian, Albanian, Romanian, Armenian, Central Asian and Modern Greek languages
- Edits MARC records in OCLC or Aleph to nationally and locally established standards, including RDA, AACR2, LCRI, LCSH, LC classification system and the ALA-LC Romanization Tables
- Upgrades bibliographic headings to authorized forms
- Assigns LC classification and LC subject headings
- Inputs paired fields in Cyrillic or Armenian
Cataloging & Library Support
- Searches bibliographic databases
- Assists with workflow maintenance and disperses work to various cataloging workflows
- Processes added volumes, added copies and added issues
- Attends unit and library wide meetings, appropriate staff development workshops and events
