Chapter 74 Allied Health - Health Science - Worcester Public Schools - Worcester, MA
REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
This position is accountable for teaching and supervision of students in Allied Health state frameworks and curriculum disciplines under the direction of the allied health department head.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental curriculum objectives and competencies.
2. Responsible for the integration of the department’s curriculum where appropriate.
3. Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, natural origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability.
4. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Massachusetts teacher’s licensure (Chapter 74) in the Health Assisting Vocational Technical program or ability to obtain within one year.
2. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field.
3. Three (3) years full time nursing experience, within the last seven (7) years.
4. Possession of a current Massachusetts’ License as a Registered Nurse (R.N.).
5. Evidence of mastery of a wide variety of teacher competencies and the understanding of instructional techniques.
6. Strong background in, clinical, emergency room and hospital care.
7. Working knowledge of computer applications in the health industry.
8. Evidence of supervisory experience for Health Care Industry operations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to speak Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Albanian, or Twi.
2. Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
3. Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition
4. SEI Endorsement.
WORK YEAR: Teachers’ work year and work day
SALARY: Teachers’ salary
