Therapist: Physical Therapy - Worcester Public Schools - Worcester, MA
REPORTS TO: DEPARTMENT HEAD PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
The physical Therapist position is accountable for working with students, students with disabilities, or under section 504 and or implementing IEPs in order to assist students in accessing the education programs.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide Physical Therapy services to students in variety of school sites and programs in the city but not limited to interventions of lifting, transferring, positioning, using adaptive equipment, changing when necessary, setting up positioning devise, assisting with mobility (i.e. wheel chair, crutches, walker), as well as assisting and supporting during activity execution.
2. Work cooperatively with regular and special education staff to accommodate the needs of the students within the academic environment.
3. Conduct assessments, write reports, and participate in the Team Process.
4. Provide supervision to PTAs.
5. Travel from school to school to meet the needs of the caseload demands.
6. Provide in service training to school staff.
7. Collaborate and consult with team members to determine appropriate equipment for physically challenged students.
8. Participate in continuing education opportunities offered within the district and in other settings as needed to maintain current licensure and remain knowledgeable of current trends in therapy in school setting.

10. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited PT program.
2. Massachusetts license required in PT
3. At least one year or relevant experience.
4. Citizenship, residency or work VISA in USA.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience providing PT within a school based setting
2. Master degree
3. Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs.
4. Ability to speak Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Albanian, or an African Language.
5. Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition
