Position Title: Linguistics Manager – USAREUR Kosovo II

Reports To: Task Order Program/Quality Control Manager

Purpose of the Position :
Applies expertise in Albanian, Serbian and Macedonian languages & dialects, and ethnographical breakdown of the Area of Operations to advise the Task Order Program Manager in assigning linguists to the appropriate mission area tasks.

Principal Position Responsibilities:
Observes linguist interpreting activities for QC purposes; inspects, edits and proofreads translated documents in to/from target language to/from English.

Advises Quality Control Manager of translation/ transcription products and interpretation services including the accurate meaning, context and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar, and pronunciation in both English and the target languages.

Recruits, tests, trains and advises new linguists helping to build a linguist labor force with the capable of meeting the needs and demands of peacekeeping troops.

Researches and develops testing and assessment methodology for local dialects and languages spoken in Kosovo and Macedonia as required.

Maintains linguist reference library; archives reoccurring translated documents; collects, researches, develops standardized terminology and abbreviations (i.e. military terms) for use in translating documents program wide and disseminates to linguists

Perform other duties as required.

Education Required:
Master’s degree in translating/interpreting, linguistics or related subject, English, Serbian Language and Literature or Albanian Language and Literature or Bachelor’s degree in translating/interpreting, linguistics or related subject, English, Serbian Language and Literature or Albanian Language and Literature plus 5 years’ experience as an interpreter or translator or English or foreign language instructor

Experience Required:
Minimum of five (5) total years of demonstrated work experience as a linguist, translator or interpreter

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):
3/3 (Inter-agency Language Round-table) Scale in Albanian and Serbian

Expert knowledge and use of both Cyrillic and Latin alphabets
