Custodian (Anticipated Openings) 2016 - Worcester Public Schools - Worcester, MA
REPORTS TO: Senior Custodian
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
This position is accountable for providing custodial services in public school buildings so that clean and orderly conditions exist inside the building as well as on the grounds through knowledge, sound judgment and resourcefulness consistent with the negotiated contract and School Committee policies.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Responsible for possessing the working knowledge of methods, materials and equipment to provide public school buildings and grounds clean and safe for all parties.
2. Responsible for possessing the working knowledge in maintaining the operation of low pressure boilers, ventilation systems, cleaning equipment, building fixtures, and furniture.
3. Responsible for possessing the working knowledge in maintaining fire prevention and protection, correcting building hazards, proper storage of inflammable materials, and other safety precautions.
4. Responsible for possessing the working knowledge for protecting school property from damage, theft and/ or trespass.
5. Responsible for possessing the working knowledge in planning and maintaining supplies/ materials to meet expectations of principal and staff.
6. Responsible for possessing the working knowledge in enforcing building rules and regulations so that a clean safe building can be maintained.
7. Responsible for possessing the working knowledge for properly displaying and storing the flag of the United States.
8. Responsible for possessing the working knowledge for the safe operation of power cleaners, polishers, sanders, etc.

10. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must possess a Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operators License (Class 3)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A valid Massachusetts 1st Class Fireman’s License
2. Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
3. Ability to speak Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Albanian, or Twi.
4. Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition
5. SEI Endorsement or ESL dual licensure.

WORK YEAR: 12 months
WORK DAY: Schedule of assigned school
