Job Description:
This position will support administrative support and
language training services to satisfy the overall
operational objectives of the Unites States Agency for
International Development (USAID) Office of Human
Resources (OHR).
The Language Instructor will be:
Familiar working with ILR levels and the skills that
are needed for students to reach their required
proficiency goals.
Create a Language Training Lesson Plan
Able to create syllabi that contain activities
designed to improve language proficiency.
Foster the development of language skills in
negotiations and problem-solving situations.
Help students develop strong listening skills is
essential.
Develop tasks that are designed to integrate skills,
with reading activities playing a major supporting role
in the development of speaking and listening skills.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one language training as requested by the
OHR/FSP to meet language requirements using materials
and approaches consistent with students achieving
success in FSI proficiency training.
Instruction should be for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week,
or 25 hours per week, except when limited by Federal
holidays or inclement weather directives from the U.S.
Office of Personnel Management. Any other deviations in
the number of hours per day or days per week must be
authorized in advance and in writing by the Program
Director.

Physical Requirements
- Sit or Stand throughout a regular work day.
- Ability to work on computer for long periods.

- Long hours and weekends may be required to meet
deliverables.
Work Environment
Work area will be free from debris, dust, liquid
spillage, and food particles. Maintains all work spaces
and in a clean and organized manner.

- Participates in maintaining safe work environment by

Job Requirements:
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in foreign language. Master’s Degree
preferred. Native speakers of foreign language
preferred. Must have a minimum of ten years teaching
foreign language in a one-on-one environment.
Demonstrated experience as an effective teacher.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Familiar with Foreign Service Institute (FSI) Testing
Standards.
- Strong written and oral communication skills,
organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with minimal oversight.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Some travel may be required within the Washington,
D.C. Metro Area.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States
as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
